The Office of Research, Development & Technology (ORDT) supports investigators by providing multiple aspects of the study readines, which servcies include Budget and Contracts, Regulatory and Grant Proposals.

Budget and Contract Services

Budget and Contracts support the investigators in the development of clinical trial agreements and execution. It provides fiscal and administrative support to all Research Clinical Units. Works with Units on budget development; facilitates the negotiation of budgets and contracts with sponsors; and financial management on executed contracts.

  • Contract Management – facilitate the contract and budget negotiation and execution with the Sponsor.
  • Financial Management – monitor and report the financial status of research projects.
  • Administrative Support – facilitate communication and coordination among researchers, study personnel and sponsors.
  • Training and Education - organize training sessions for researchers and staff on compliance, usage of our clinical trial management system and other research billing relevant topics.

Grant Proposal Services

Grant Proposal services supports the development and submissions of grant proposals. Investigators are given support in the following areas: identifying grant opportunities, complying with administrative requirements, budget preparation, consortium arrangements, regulatory compliance assurances, interaction with granting agencies/officers, interfacing with the financial departments and interim/final report submissions.

Proposal Development

After you have developed your scientific protocol and identified a funding agency to submit a grant application, we can:

  • assist with the proposal documents
  • develop the project budget
  • review to ensure the application adheres to the funding sponsor's requirements and guidelines
  • obtain the necessary Queen's approvals
  • submit the application package to the sponsor (paper or electronic)
