Hawai'i HERON

Aloha

Through initial funding from the FDA Office of Minority Health and Health Equity as part of the REACH Consortium, Hawai‘i HERON was established to improve the health and healthcare of Asian, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, rural, and other underserved populations. The goal is to timely and efficiently respond to health equity research needs in Hawai‘i and throughout the Pacific.

The Research Team

We are a group of health practitioners, researchers and community members working together to understand the problems influencing health inequalities through research.

"Trust & Medication Beliefs in Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders" presented by Cody Porter, PharmD

This study aims to identify factors that facilitate healthcare provider trust among NHPI and to describe diabetes medication beliefs in NHPI. Identifying these factors can increase medication adherence in NHPI, which is an important aspect in promoting positive health outcomes within NHPI.
